Diving in Costa Brava

Breathing underwater amidst nature and marine fauna is one of the experiences that all sea lovers should have at least once in their lives.

And there is no better way to get to know the wonders of the subaquatic world than with a try dive, which is the first dive in the sea to get started in scuba diving.

Scuba diving is an activity that has many benefits for the body and mind. Diving requires a significant physical effort and helps you to relax and relieve stress. Plus, you'll have an excuse to travel to other places in search of new dives.

If you are thinking of trying scuba diving, there is no better place than the calm, warm waters of the Costa Brava. In this area of the Mediterranean, you will discover a rich underwater ecosystem that you won't want to leave. Find out here all the details about an experience that will get you hooked on diving.

Diving in Costa Brava: an underwater paradise

In Costa Brava there are many diving centres that give you the chance to have a first contact with scuba diving, teaching you all the basics before going out to sea. First dives can be done alone, with a partner, with friends or even with the little ones, always safely and under the supervision of professionals.

This is a privileged natural environment, with all kinds of beaches, coves, harbours and marine reserves where you can start diving. Although there are many places where you can try scuba diving in Costa Brava, these are some of the most special ones:

Cap de Creus

The protected area of Cap de Creus is one of the most recommended for diving in the Costa Brava, as it is one of the best-preserved areas in the Mediterranean. In any of the towns in the area (Roses, Cadaqués, Selva de Mar, Llançà...) there are diving centres that offer try dives.

L’Estartit

L'Estartit is another of the best places for diving on the Costa Brava. Here you will find the Illes Medes Natural Park and the Montgrí Coast, natural sites with opportunities for all divers, including beginners.

Llafranc

Another popular dive site for all levels is in the town of Llafranc, where you can find the Ullastres underwater mountains. The dives here take place in areas close to the harbour and are usually boat try dives. When you are ready and have acquired the necessary skills, incredible dives await you near Llafranc at Ullastres, the nearby Illes Formigues and the Boreas shipwreck.

Lloret de Mar

Lloret de Mar is the perfect destination to get you started in the world of scuba diving. In the town you can do beach and boat try dives in calm, shallow areas. Here you will also find Las Gorgonias, a 56-metre slab with a natural environment that has been preserved intact, and a great incentive to continue practising after your first dive, as you can only do this immersion when you are an experienced diver.
