Great diversity of flora and fauna
The Medes Islands belong to the Montgrí Natural Park on the Estartit coast. The seven islets are Meda Gran, Meda Petita, Medallot, Carall Bernat, Ferranelles, Tascó Gros and Tascó Petit, with a surface area of more than 21 hectares.
The main attraction of the archipelago lies in its enormous variety of marine and land species. The seabed is home to fish, algae, corals, and crustaceans, as well as shipwrecks, making it a popular spot for scuba divers. Out of the water, the island's vegetation is adapted to the wind and salty conditions, and there are also abundant birds, insects, and some mammals.
A diving paradise
The warm waters of the Costa Brava are ideal for diving, and the Medes Islands are a true underwater paradise to be discovered by fans of the underwater world. The Meda Gran and Meda Petita, the largest of the islands, offer the most diving opportunities. Access is usually by boat or zodiac, always under the supervision of professionals.

Visiting the Medes Islands by boat

The departure ports for the boat trips are in Palamós, Estartit or Llafranc. You can choose between two types of experiences:
- Half day: 4 hours trip in which you can discover the coves of the area. From 2 to 6 people in a 6m boat.
- Full day: 8 hours of sailing to get to places such as Cadaqués or Cap de Creus, from where you can visit the Medes Islands. From 2 to 12 people in a 12m boat.
